According to this article from JT News, the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) is going to be working with Washington Ceasefire to pass gun control legislation in Washington State.

The two organizations will also be working together this upcoming year to pass gun-control legislation in Olympia. Their target is a controversial gun-show loophole that allows private, unlicensed gun dealers to sell firearms without conducting background checks as required by the 1994 Brady Bill.

The only controversy I see is that they don’t understand the law and how it applies to gun shows and private sales. In Washington State it is legal for private citizens to buy and sell guns from each other. A gun show is just a collection of private individuals, and by closing this mis-named gun show loophole they will be stopping private sales of guns — which I’m sure they will be perfectly happy to do.

Some gun shows, for example those run by the Washington Arms Collectors, even go so far as to only allow sales between members who have passed a background check in order to join the WAC. This is not required by the law, and only further demonstrates how responsible gun owners are.

It is interesting that given the history of persecution of the Jewish people, and the July attack on the Seattle Jewish Federation that Jewish groups, especially one that centers on women’s issues, would be supporting the kinds of laws that left their relatives defenseless against Hitler’s brutal regime, or could have prevented more bloodshed in numerous attacks on Jews over the years.

Instead of wasting their political efforts on more gun control they should be following the lead of organizations like Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (JPFO) who consistently support the opposite result – “To destroy ‘gun control’ and to encourage Americans to understand and defend all of the Bill of Rights for everyone.”

When someone wants to pass gun control laws they should always be asked a simple question – Will this law make it difficult or impossible to protect innocent life from a government intent on their imprisonment or death? Joe Huffman came up with this simple question and named it the Jews In The Attic test, which seems appropriate given that these Jewish women want to disarm the people who will be their last line of defense against tyrrany.

No, I’m not swerving off-subject into an anti-government ramble. I am reminding you that ultimately the reason for private citizens owning guns and for the 2nd Amendment’s protection of that right is to prevent the government from killing the citizens that created it.

Gun control, no matter how much you dress it up in the language of soccer moms protecting their children, is about dis-arming law abiding citizens so that they can no longer protect themselves against an opressive government. You can freely substitute ‘criminal’ instead of ‘government’, as it applies to protection from them as well, but in the end it is the government that has you at the barrel of a gun.

Jews used to know this. Apparently some of them have forgotten.
